Minimalism for introverts – Episode 17 min read

My good friend, Oumeima, always has amazing advice when I am feeling overwhelmed, angry or lost. As we were talking about my new business (aka this one šŸ˜‰ ), she advises trying minimalism.

I have watched a few videos on the topic, and also have started reorganizing my place. However, minimalism is not about decluttering, then going back to the mess again to declutter a few months later. I have strong attachments to my clothes, things, as well as anger (memories).

Yes, minimalism is not only about things, it’s also about how you spend your time, with who, your emotions, your projects.

Choose to keep what you love and makes you happy.I have decided to bring you with me on that journey to minimalism. I knew nothing about it so we will learn together.

Everything I learn I will share them with you in addition to my personal experience.

By the way – I am not talking about a 30-day challenge here to be a minimalist, but a journey to developing a minimalist lifestyle. It’s not a diet but a lifestyle.

You may have heard about minimalism and think it just means throwing out stuff and leaving on a lost island. Fear not!

Minimalism just like any lifestyle or system can have a different definition or representation dependingĀ on the person.I like this example I believe from Rachel Aust (Amazing “design”: black white clean love her channel): If you are a makeup guru, of course, you need your makeup brushes and products.

However, you won’t be keeping those who don’t bring you joy, you never use and are just in your collection for numbers. THAT’s the difference.

Minimalism can mean something different from a person to another. So the first step will be:

Don’t judge

A lot of great sources I found about minimalism really emphasized on that point. Just keep what keeps you happy is the motto, then, do whatever you want!

It’s not only about the clothes

So I have purchased books from Marie Kondo, the queen forĀ organizing your house and minimalism (The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing)

Even though as a woman we do tend to pile up clothes we don’t need, it’s not only about the clothes. While decluttering your closet, it may have an unexpected impact on your mindset and life in general.

For example, for me, a crowded space makes my mind blow up. I feel clouded and lost. As introverts, we already tend to overthink or at least think a hell LOT. If your space is crowded you mind (eyes) which is looking for some clarity (clear space) won’t be able to find it and will go on its trip to thoughts war.

It’s also about feelings and people

Is there any anger you still haven’t let go of? Is there anybody you should apologize to? (even though it was not fully your fault, it truly helps to let go).

Is there anybody you should let go of? Toxic people make your environment toxic which makes your mindset toxic and consequently your decisions > behavior and life.

Don’t let that happen to you.

I will make a video to talk more about minimalism as an introvert! Stay tuned šŸ™‚
